3 Cups of Tea is the title of a best-selling book about Greg Mortenson, a mountain climber who became committed to building schools in Pakistan so young girls could have the opportunity to learn. We’ll paraphrase his title by saying one cup, more up, two cups even more up, three cups, over 70% less prostate cancer.
In 2004, a group of Chinese investigators reported a study in the International Journal of Cancer that examined various lifestyle factors and the occurrence of prostate cancer. The prostate cancer risk declined with increasing frequency, duration and quantity of green tea consumption. In those who drank more than three cups per day, the risk was reduced by 73%. In the men who had been drinking green tea for over 40 years, the incidence was reduced by over 90%. The study was very well carried out and the analysis was appropriate. No wonder the incidence of prostate cancer is 18 times lower in China than in the U.S! Remember the post above that showed how to get the most benefit out of your tea. Unfortunately 3 cups of decaffeinated tea will not give you this same benefit.
