This corresponds to about 60 calories per day and 6 pounds of weight loss per year. Green tea therefore is a useful addition for anyone attempting to lose weight, or just wanting to keep their weight normal.

Hello,
I've heard many wonderful things about the consumption of green tea. In order to experience some of the benefits, how many cups of green tea should someone consume a day? Right now, I drink a cup every once in a while (maybe three time a week), and drink two cups a day when I'm sick or feel a cold coming on to get the extra antioxidants.

So many benefits can carry the green tea, like cancer, rheumatoid arthritis, high cholesterol levels, cardiovascular disease, infection, impaired immune function. This is some illness can prevent by drinking a green tea. So that you heard is true so many sicknesses can cure by drinking a green tea.

For prevention of prostate cancer, 3 or more cups of green tea provides marked protection. For its anti-viral effect it is a bit difficult to translate the green tea supplement that was shown to lessen flu episodes into cups of tea and presumably more would be required to lessen the severity of established symptoms than as a preventive treatment. It is important not to assume that decaf green tea will give you the same benefit. The process that removes the caffeine also removes some (perhaps half) of the anti-viral compounds like ECGC. On the other hand, you can markedly boost the absorption of the ECGC (over ten-fold) by adding 50 mg of vitamin C to each cup. A convenient product to use that dissolves easily is Ester-C liquid. Click on our puritan link for vit C on the supplements page and browse there for that particular vit C product. Add a half teaspoonful to each cup. Personally I drink three cups with the vit C, but I have a family history of prostate cancer and as a physician it is really important to protect myself during this flu season. Probably two cups a day with the vit C is more than enough. However, if I had any established infection (bacterial or viral), I personally would opt for three cups.
